Interviewing the Les Vampires Oracle
Disclaimer: I approach my interviews as if it’s a conversation with the deck and write whatever comes to me intuitively. Sometimes, this shows up in the reflection as a stream of consciousness report. It may be hard to follow, but it’s an accurate depiction of my reactions/thoughts/feelings at the time of the interview.
Reflection of the interview:
It's not lost on me that the Faith card was pulled for the personality of a vampire deck 🤣 But in a way, I get it, too. It means that this deck wants to offer unwavering, confident readings. It wants me to trust that it will deliver appropriate truths.
I actually LOVE the Witness card as this deck's strength because at the end of the day, isn't that what we all really want? To feel seen, heard, understood? Yes, this deck may not be able to give me verbal affirmation but it most definitely can be a witness for me.
It seems counterintuitive that The Monster Within would show up for how to work best with this deck — and yet, it is right. When I'm feeling that internal struggle, a personal challenge, or wanting to improve, coming to this deck seems like the right way to work with it.
The Creator card in the position of how this deck will help me grow is a welcomed message. I think the word catalyst is what stands out the most. I think this card is trying to tell me that it will be a catalyst for creating. Whether that's creating something new or creating changes.
This deck makes things sound so scandalous! At first glance, the Transgression card for when I should work with this deck seems odd, but it actually makes a lot of sense because of the nature of this deck. It seems that the darkness... the shadows... the illicit thoughts... thats exactly when I need to work with this deck.
Any sensations/feelings to note:
To be honest, I was a little nervous for this interview because this deck is pretty unpredictable. I have used it a few times for some shadow work, but haven't dug into it in depth.
How do you feel about this deck after this reading?
After the first few cards, I realized that this is a shadow and dark deck... but that makes it easier to see the lightness. The takeaways, if you will. I think with lighter decks, we sometimes get lost in the "fluff" and it's nice to cleanse our palettes with a little of that darkness.
What do you like or dislike about this deck so far?
I love the darkness of this deck and the way the Lucy Cavendish approaches the descriptions in the guidebook. It feels like the perfect balance of light and dark. As far as the images go — I'm in awe of Jasmine Beckett-Griffith's talent and style. These images are quite hauntingly beautiful if I'm being honest. Although, there is such sadness within them that even the light has a hard time shining through. I think the descriptions are crucial for this because honestly if I was only looking at the images, all I would see is sorrow.
