Interviewing the Ostara Tarot

Disclaimer: I approach my interviews as if it’s a conversation with the deck and write whatever comes to me intuitively. Sometimes, this shows up in the reflection as a stream of consciousness report. It may be hard to follow, but it’s an accurate depiction of my reactions/thoughts/feelings at the time of the interview.

Reflection of the interview:

The Page of Wands in the personality position is just plain fun! I have a soft spot for this Page, as I've soooo identified with her so many times in my life. So when this card comes up, it reminds me of playfulness, creativity, resourceful. I think that's exactly what this deck's personality is like!

This might be a weird connection — but I'm thinking that the King of Coins in this strength position means that the deck will make me reckon with truths I have been denying. I also identify with the King of Coins and sometimes the shadow part keeps me blocked from where I want to go or do. I have a feeling this deck will keep me in check — and that's a true strength!

Ten of Wands is one of my favorite cards — so to get it in the "best way to work together" position is pretty telling to me. I am no stranger to success, but I'm also excellent at "carrying the burden" of others' weight along the way. To me, this is a card that reminds me of the saying, "Different Level, Different Devil" and I find it's true. So what the optimal way to work together is when I want to "level" up. When I want to know that I can have success, but I must also be aware of the pitfalls that come with it.

I was a bit baffled when I first pulled The Hierophant for "how will you help me grow" but I actually got a hit that told me exactly why this is the BEST answer to this question. The Hierophant is all about understanding the different paths to enlightenment and helping you align with the way that works best to get you there. Yes, in his shadow he can become dogmatic, but I believe he truly wants everyone to be enlightened and happy (even if that means you have to go through some shit to get there). This deck will help me grow in learning about the different paths through archetypal energy and questions to ponder and art to gaze upon.

The World is such a gloriously big card for this question. I mean... it's the world. How do you narrow in on a specific time when the card encompasses everything and anything? But when I really think about it, I see why it's also the perfect card for this position. The World signifies a sense of completion, whether that's a project, chapter of life, creative pursuit, human life, etc. But it also symbolizes rebirth or renewal. To me, The World card also holds the paradoxical energy of our lives. We live, we die, we are reborn, we live, we die, etc. So this tells me a specifically good time to use these cards is when a project is either born... or dying.

Any sensations/feelings to note:

Wow. This deck and I just have sparks. I can't explain it — but this interview reading has to be one of my favorites I've ever done because it feels like the energy of the deck is so aligned with where I'm at in my mental journey of life.

How do you feel about this deck after this reading?

To be honest, I wasn't sure I would like it! I was recommended by a course instructor for a class I'm taking and I wanted to follow along. When I looked at the card art though, I kinda felt a little nudge to get to know it. Thus the interview!

What do you like or dislike about this deck so far?

I'm pleasantly surprised! I wasn't sure what to expect from this deck and haven't spent much time with it, but I have to say, the fast connection is intense! I didn't even have to look at the guidebook for clarification. It all just spilled forth.
