Interviewing The Dark Mansion Tarot

Disclaimer: I approach my interviews as if it’s a conversation with the deck and write whatever comes to me intuitively. Sometimes, this shows up in the reflection as a stream of consciousness report. It may be hard to follow, but it’s an accurate depiction of my reactions/thoughts/feelings at the time of the interview.

Reflection of the interview:

Nine of Wands, reversed represents stubbornness, rigidity, defensiveness, refusing compromise — so we're jumping right into this deck with stubbornness, I guess. If I hadn't already used this deck a few times before doing this interview (couldn't help it!) I would be scared, but I've used it several times and while I can see the stubbornness aspect, it actually gives great readings, so I'm not scared 😂

The King of Swords represents mastery of intellect, reasoning, and integrity. For the strengths question, this tells me that this deck is going to provide some intellectual, well-reasoned readings. I feel like even though this deck is fun and quirky, at its core, it's really concerned with delivering the truth.

For the weakness question, the Queen of Wands, reversed carries a lot of demanding energy and potential confusion of emotions. What this tells me is that this deck may bring some challenges with the readings. Some confusion may arise, but I have a feeling I'll be able to overcome that.

Three of Pentacles embodies teamwork, collaboration, and goal achievement. With this question, I'm thinking that this deck is meant to serve as a collaborative tool. A way to grow in relationships with others. The "how" remains to be seen, but I think this is a positive card for this question.

The card for the question of "when should I call upon you" is quite insightful. The Death card, reversed, is pretty straightforward. It can mean stagnation, fear of change, resistance. I think this is exactly when I need to be using this deck and calling upon it for guidance. This is actually one of the primary reasons I read the cards — to challenge my fears and resistance.

The best way to work with this deck comes in the form of The World which is also quite poignant and telling. The World card embodies a cycle ending and a new one beginning. It says that everything will come full circle if we can complete the challenges involved. This tells me that in conjunction with the Death card of "when," this is the "why." Why should I work with this deck? Because it will help complete a cycle... because it will reveal the completion of what I seek.

Lastly, what will our relationship be like? The Nine of Cups is a statement of emotional satisfaction and stability. This tells me that though this deck may throw me some curveballs, it's ultimately concerned with bringing me a sense of emotional satisfaction. It wants to provide me with useful information and allow me the stability I crave.

Any sensations/feelings to note:

I feel like this is a solid interview though I'm not surprised given that I've done readings from this deck already. It's a bit of a wildcard though... some of the readings have been positive and some have shown me the need to work on my shadow side already.

How do you feel about this deck after this reading?

I love this deck! I've loved the illustrations and imagery since I set sights on it, but that doesn't always translate to reading well. But luckily, it's proven to be a reliable deck.
