Interviewing The Spacious Tarot Deck
Disclaimer: I approach my interviews as if it’s a conversation with the deck and write whatever comes to me intuitively. Sometimes, this shows up in the reflection as a stream of consciousness report. It may be hard to follow, but it’s an accurate depiction of my reactions/thoughts/feelings at the time of the interview.
Reflection of the interview:
The Moon Card reversed is an interesting start to this interview. The Moon card in the Tarot is full of duality, in my opinion, and thus, I'm getting a hit that this deck will also have plenty of duality within it. Typically, I associate the Reversed Moon with confusion, self-deception, or anxiety. To see it here for this question makes me a little concerned, but I can't yet gauge if it's meant to be a warning or simply a directive. Use this deck when confusion arises. Wow, so The Judgement card for this deck's strength feels like a huge positive as this card usually represents reflection, careful consideration, self-reflection, and measured decisions. To me, this is saying that this deck will provide ample opportunities for those qualities to come to light. That's actually why I go to the cards, anyway, so it seems this deck is telling me, "Hey, we're tailored made for reflection!" Oh dear, the Knight (in this deck, Explorer) of Wands usually indicates frustration and delays. It can mean a loss of power or overcompensation for a perceived loss. What this card tells me in this position of weakness means that perhaps what I seek through the cards will not be as straightforward or forthcoming as I'd like. It may be a case where it takes a while to get a "good" reading or it could simply mean the answers will not come as easily as they do with other decks. This interview is like a rollercoaster... because the Eight of Wands for this question is straight-forward. This card is all about growth... specifically after the hardships faced previously. Coming after the weakness card, I think this card is trying to tell me that this deck does want to help me grow. That it is more than capable of giving me what I seek — just that I will have to work harder for the answers and growth. The Chariot in its reversed position here makes a lot of sense. Typically, the reversed Chariot means that there is something lacking internally or externally. It could be a lack of direction, lack of stability, etc. So to see it come up for this question means that the deck wants me to use it when I'm feeling that sense of something missing or lacking in my life. It wants to be used when I feel like I need some firm guidance. The fact that the cards have also shown me that I'll need to "work harder" for those answers concerns me a little bit, to be honest. Interesting! I associate the Ace of Swords most commonly with a breakthrough... or a sense of clarity that is coming into focus. Coming after the last question, I think the cards are telling me that it would be wise to come to this deck to seek clarity or a breakthrough when I'm feeling lost or directionless. It feels strongly like this deck is more of a "healing" deck, giving gentle but strong guidance that may take more time to process or integrate than other decks. The Guardian (Queen) of Wands is pretty darn telling for this question. I was already getting the divine feminine, nurturing feeling from this deck, but this card is telling me that the deck is most concerned with making sure I keep an uplifting and positive attitude in life. I think this is why I got the vibe that it will be good for "healing." It feels very much like this deck wants to be used to make me "feel better."
Any sensations/feelings to note:
I've been getting "mixed signals" during this interview, but ultimately, I think it goes back to the way this deck feels like it wants to be used. The energy from the deck feels nurturing, like a mentor that will give you the answers you seek if you're willing to be patient and listen to the stories they have to tell before they give you the "answer."
How do you feel about this deck after this reading?
I'm feeling fairly positive about this deck. I'll admit that the up and down nature of the interview concerned me a bit, but I don't think it's anything I can work through by using the cards.
What do you like or dislike about this deck so far?
I LOVE the illustrations for this deck! They feel intuitive yet a fresh take on the typical Tarot imagery. However, I'm on the fence with the naming of the court cards. I don't dislike them, but I find other than the "child" court cards, the other ones are not intuitive for their Tarot counterparts. That may end up being something I get used to, but for the time being, I have a feeling I will have to be looking up the names to make sure I'm getting it right.
