Interviewing Seasons of the Witch Samhain Oracle
Disclaimer: I approach my interviews as if it’s a conversation with the deck and write whatever comes to me intuitively. Sometimes, this shows up in the reflection as a stream of consciousness report. It may be hard to follow, but it’s an accurate depiction of my reactions/thoughts/feelings at the time of the interview.
Reflection of the interview:
The Pumpkin card as this deck's personality represents protection and fertility (not just with child). It says: "You have pulled Pumpkin today because you are protected and safe from harm" — this is telling me that the deck will not be an overly harmful deck and that it's safe and okay to use it. The fertility piece makes me believe that this deck will have a lot of insights that will prompt the birth of new ideas and thoughts. The Elements card in the strength position tells me that this deck is concerned with balance and harmony — I have a feeling that there will be a gentle balance of both light and dark and as this card says — "the need to make room for all energies." I feel like this deck will allow that to happen. Interesting — The Ancestors card in the weakness position feels misaligned, but I'll go with it. It feels misaligned because after looking over the spreads, I realized how many talked about spirit guides within the questions, so it seems as if this deck wants ancestors and spirit guides to be present. I'm wondering if this could be a nod that this deck isn't the best for ancestor work? That maybe, I won't get as much out of it if I go with that intention? I'm not really sure — it's something I'll have to keep an eye on. Ooh, I have to say I like what this card has to say about how it will help me grow! The Bat card indicates growth in psychic developments, intuition, trusting, and spiritual work. It's pretty clear to me with this card that this deck will help me develop the skills I need to be a more spiritually and intuitive witch. Wow — how's that for synchronicity? The literal answer to "when should I call on you for guidance" is: The Dark Moon. But actually, I love this line that says: "If you are holding the Dark Moon card know that there is always a chance to start again." So in essence, the Dark Moon is a great time to call upon this deck for guidance, but it's also here whenever I need to "start over." I like that. Ooh. Another literal card pull/meaning for the best way to work with this deck! Without even reading the guidebook description, I'm going to use my intuition and say that because of the Crystals and Herbs card, this deck likes to be worked with when there are crystals and herbs involved. While my intuition was correct — the card goes deeper to say that crystals and herbs are a way to work with Earth's energy which is really what this card message is about. That earth's energy is a natural medicine and it can help heal, treat, etc. That makes sense why it's tied to Crystals and Herbs and why this deck likes to work with it. Oooh. Fascinating! For what our relationship will be like, this Rebirth Card, right off the bat (pun not intended lol) tells me that there will be some kind of "re-awakening" or "transformation" that happens while using the deck. I have a feeling there will be a turning point when using it where something will catapult me into a cycle of deep change (almost like a rebirth).
Any sensations/feelings to note:
I've been drawn to this deck since I saw someone post about it on IG, so to have it in my hands finally has been fun. Honestly though? It wasn't until I took it out and saw that red gilded edges that I fell even more love. It gives it this... otherworldly feel that so many of the other decks don't have. I definitely was not disappointed.
How do you feel about this deck after this reading?
I love it! I have a feeling it's going to be a deck I use for specific purposes and mostly, for myself. It feels like one of those decks that you attach to and it seems to only read "well" for yourself... but we'll see!
What do you like or dislike about this deck so far?
In a very rare instance, this deck has hit all three of my main "criteria" for being a badass deck.
I connect with the imagery/illustrations - ✔️
I find the guidebook/spreads/information useful, fresh, and understandable - ✔️
I can read with intuition and get meaning just from the images, but enhance that with the descriptions - ✔️
Yes, I have a feeling this deck might earn it's way into my top spot after all!
